Tip for Repairers

"No Quotes" Provide Valuable Supportive Documentation

If you receive “zero quotes” in response to a request for parts quotes in PartsTrader, the lack of response as well as the response of "Cannot Supply" are both identifiable and trackable events. What this ultimately means, is that instead of an insurance company calling suppliers to verify quote numbers, the responses in PartsTrader can provide documentation that a supplier either did not reply or that a user at a supplier checked their inventory at the time that you needed the part, and indicated that they did not have the part.

How can you find this information about a job?

You can retrieve old jobs at any time by utilizing the search feature at the top of the PartsTrader screen--search the customer's name, RO number, make/model of the vehicle or any other piece of information, then click View Job and look at the Job Summary. The Job Summary includes both a "Repairer View" showing shop cost information and an "Insurance View" that keeps private information like buy price out of view.

Repairers & Suppliers

Two Efficiency Tips

Use Watchlists to Focus on Your Work

Jobs that you are working on are automatically added to your PartsTrader Watchlist after you perform an action on them such as requesting quotes or confirming an order.  Clicking the “My Watchlist” tab will allow you to view only the collection of jobs that you are currently working with.  It’s like your own personal dashboard.  You can also add specific jobs to your Watchlist by clicking “More” and then “Add to Watchlist” from the main dashboard.

Alerts Can Help if You are Away from Your Desk
If you are always out and about, you can set your alerts to be delivered via text message.  Clicking on “Profile” at the top of the screen and going into the “My Alerts” tab will allow you to customize any of the alerts that you may currently be receiving as emails.  You can also add or remove events from this same screen.

Last Month's Poll Results:

Do you track Part Returns in PartsTrader?

Yes - 18%; No - 82%

If you answered "No," you should adopt this practice! If you are a Repairer, taking this action allows you to seek more quotes, or to place a direct order. It also helps document your parts decisions as a part of your job file, so you can easily see what transpired should you (or an auditor) need to look back at a job. If you are a Supplier, you can use PartsTrader reports to monitor return percentages, which is a valuable metric to run your business efficiently.
